Backroad Ramble 6-2-13

Ran the BRR (Backroad Ramble today. I liked it better last year becuase more people showed up, temperature, etc.)Got third place which surprised me. Tom ,dad and I did a 2 mile warmup to the playground and back. We passed a lady on the warmup and she said go straight. Did she serouisley think that that race had started? When we got back I spotted a few people. My Neighbor Joe(I had never seen him running before and expected him to do terrible) Jonny Hammet(Why isn't he running?), Mike C(Something looked different about him. Turns out he shaved his beard off and JT(who finished 4th.) Shortly after the race started. A kid flew out at the beginning and he ended up being passed by 4 people. I thought he might win it because he looked really fast. Tom passed him right away and I passed him at the first mile. He was the only one who I passed and no one passed me. Mile 1 went by quick. I couldn't see my dad after mile 1. They marked mile one, but not 2. I liked mile 2 the best, but it was the most confusing on where two turn. Entering the campground I look sideways and see the boy who flew out and JT right behind hime. Last year I took a wrong turn on the campground with Steve. This year it was much better marked. I got out of the campground onto the road. Later i come up onto a turn. Okay, I see three ways. There is no marker but two of the ways of voluntters standing there. The way going straight, the volunter is turned around so I am going to go left. I run up there and there is a girl there. There is no marker and she isn't pointing. Um, the point of volunttering is to help runners. I pant "right or left?" I takes her a couple seconds and she points left. Geez, do your job or don't voluntter. Her mommy probably made her come. I turned left and looked to the side. Now JT was 4th and the boy who flew out quickly was in 5th. I turned again soon and was back on the single track trail.  ( I can't remember it exactly.) I ran that and it went by quickly. At the end Frank Abate got out of the way for me. That was nice of him. Now back on the to the main road. I run  it for a while and was thinking, this should end anytime soon. It dosen't. This seemed to take forever. After 100 milleniums i finally got to the end and turned left I ran up the parking lot. The finish was uphill and was a hard finish. I finished 21:49 for about 3.4 mi. Tom won and my dad got second. I was 59 seconds off dad. Tom was the only sub-20. JT came in 4th two minutes later and the other boy got 5th. Steve came in 6th. That mike critchlery dude came in 7th. Joesph Child came in 13th. (That was appartently his name because some wierd girl kept calling him that.) I went on a cooldown with Tom,Dad, and Critchlery. I turned around after half a mile but the rest of them did 2 more. I came back to see colburn finish soon after. For lunch I had 2 hot dogs and two bags of chips. I got a $25 7-eleven card for winning his age group. After that Tom and Critchlery left. Later I went swimming and a short kayaking. I ended up getting home at 2. I have 11 miles so far in june. I will try to get on the bike once this week. I will run monday-thursday. On tuesday is the stonington fun run. I hope more people show up this week because last week we didn't know anyone and it was rainy. On monday, wednesday and thursday I have Hershey's Track and Field practice at the Chariho track. The day of hersheys is the 13th. I have the first westerly fun run the day before so I probably will run the fun run slow that day.  I need 500 miles for the end of the year to reach my goal so that means I need 250 for the end of june because that is half of the year. I'm already at 253.

Pawcatuck Lions 6-1-13

Ran the 5K today. Low 20's. Not even close to my PR. My mile times went down about 20 seconds every mile. Mike B passed me after mile 1 and I stayed right behind him for  mile 2 but for mile 3 the heat started to set in and i slowed down so much. I got 6th and he got 5th which is pretty much NSEF 5K reversed. I won my age group.(I think I was actually the only one, which means I also lost my age group.) They gave out  coolers which I thought was neat. I am definitely going to use those in the future. At first I thought it was the woman's bag and I was thinking can you get your bag out of the way? Later i realized it was a cooler. Went for a 2 mile warmup with Dad and Mike. After the race I didn't take any food or drink but had lots of water and powerade. Tomorrow is the BRR (Back Road Ramble) put on the YMCA which I thought was a really great race last year. I hope it isn't as hot as it was today.

these are i think are some of my hardest goals

5-31-13

Did a bike-run today with my dad. Ten miles on the bike then 3 running. Running was much harder. On the bike i felt fine for the first couple of miles, then my back started to kill me for the rest of the route. My bike computer wasn't working and that was very working. Also on the run I couldn't find my GPS watch so I ran without that also. As soon as I got on the run It felt very weird and I was was wobbly and unbalanced. I felt like I was drunk. My dad probably snuck beer into my powerade I brought for the bike. Just Kidding. I felt bad the entire run and was glad when I got home.

59 miles for the month of may and my second most miles in a month this year. (First was last month) Put up a biking mileage. First bike of the year. Remember to vote on my polls.

5-27-13 Beach Run

Ran on the beach today at 7:00. Woke up at 7:15 and was really tired. Ran 3 miles with Tom and Dad then ran 2 miles later. 5 miles total today to start the week. I'm not a hobbit, so my feet were hurting. (Hobbits have tough feet and walk on very rocky places barefoot.) I didn't go swimming and they went a little bit.

North Stonington Education Foundation 5K 5-25-13

Ran the North Stonington Education Foundation 5K. That's quite a mouthful. NSEF 5K. I got 5th overall and 2nd in my age group. 19:56 time. 6:25 pace. My hands and wrists were very cold during the race. There were many turns. At the last part I sprinted as fast as I could. I never took water and I was pretty sure they didn't put a mile 2 and 3 marker. I couldn't see the first couple finishers after the first mile but i saw the 4th runner the whole race. Afterwards, there was food and other stuff. For awards I got a hat and a gift certificate.

RI State Police 4-28-13

Ran the RI state police on the 28th. Got 19:21 and set a Pr. Before the start did about a mile warm up on trails. The race went by pretty quick. I think i lined up too far back too start though. I didn't take any water at the water stop because i barely even noticed it. The third mile was mostly just one straightaway  I think that was my fastest mile. After finishing I had no idea what time I had gotten. I came around and saw the clock say 20:10 so I thought it had only been 20 seconds and i may or may not of Pr. Then I went on a 1 mile cool down. When i came back there was food everywhere. Lots of free samples and a long line for other food stretched back to the beach. I found out what my time was and I was surprised.  Then i finally went in the long line to get some food.
