Monday: 4 Miles,
easy run before JV states.
Tuesday: Another 4
in the rain, JV pushed to Wednesday.
Wednesday: 5 Miles,
JV State Championships.
About a 20 minute warm-up, I was seeded second in the last
heat of the 1500. The first three heats went off right away, then there were
many events in-between the next 1500. There was a fourth heat of the 1500, and
finally the last heat came. There were at least 15 people in the heat, and as
soon as the gun shot off, I was boxed in. I felt good the first 300m, and then
I started to get a little tired but hung with the lead pack while remaining
boxed in for the next 800m. A freshman rival was seeded first and he stayed in
the front of the pack for the first 1000, but then broke away for the final lap
into the lead. I was in 6th or 7th position with 500m to
go, but I was able to move up to 3rd with 200m left. I was right
with the second place guy, but the freshman was too far ahead. I didn’t have
any energy left in the last 100m, and the fourth place guy passed me back and 2nd
and 3rd place put some distance on me. I finished 4th,
4:23. My next and last event of the 2015 track season was the 800m. I was in
the 5th and last heat, seeded 9th. I ran my first lap fast and was in 3rd or 4th
place with 450m to go, but I died the second lap and was passed many times,
losing to 3 freshman and finishing 11th place, 2:11.
