Weekly Log: January 27 to February 2

Continuing the higher but mostly easy/moderate mileage w/ a workout in there. Another really good week of training. Lucked out with some guys not going to New Englands so I didn't have to solo any runs.

Monday: 12 Miles

Wasn't looking to do 12 after Sunday's 16, but Forest was doing that and everyone else was going 5 before some light speed work. Wanted to keep it easy and 12 wasn't outrageously long, so stuck with forest. Solid 12 miles at 6:45 (Jlab), felt pretty good. Legs a little heavy towards the end.

Tuesday: 11 Miles

Workout day, 3.5 mile warmup. Did 2x(400/800/400/200/1000/200) w/target splits of 34s for 200, 72s for 400, 2:26 for the 800, and 3:02 for the 1K. Approx. 2 mins between reps, 8 mins between the sets. Ran w/Aiden, Nico was doing the same thing but had faster splits. Felt really strong and smooth in this one. Obviously not a very difficult workout but happy to have it feel pretty easy. All the reps I paced were near perfect as well, which was nice bonus. 73/2:26/70/33/3:01/33/70/2:22/71/34/3:00/30. Difficulty: 1/5. Never struggled w/any aspect of the workout and was always ready for more. Definitely could have done at least one more set.

Wednesday: 10 Miles

Short snell into Gables w/Nico and Aiden. A little windy and cold out.

Thursday: 8 Miles

7:30AM Pudding Hill w/Aiden. Will likely be my Thursday run for the rest of the semester. Felt really tired today.

Friday: 10 Miles

Weird route. Started out with a bunch of guys on short rose then did various add-ons until I hit 10 miles w/people dropping off (going different directions) in different spots. Did some hard 5x80m strides, the last one all out in 10.7. Did an all-out 200 after in 27.9. Not impressed w/either or how hard they felt, but can't say I'm too surprised either.

Saturday: 10 Miles

Another really weird route, ran trails until deciding they were too icy and doing a homecoming on the roads, w/a mile field extension. Came back and ran an all-out 100 in 14.1 and an all-out 400 in 60.5. Neither happy nor disappointed with the times. Hard to properly evaluate when I'm wearing trainers, tights and am 9 miles into a run. Felt really tired in the 400.

Sunday: 18 Miles

Ran w/a bunch of guys for Jlab for 8 miles or so, then split off with Aiden to run a dame, where we broke off again when I stopped for a bathroom break. Felt tired and legs felt dead early on, but surprisingly instead of dying at the end, I picked it up a lot (splits were around 7:00-7:05 through 10 miles) towards the end running final splits of 6:16, 6:09, and 6:02. Nice long run PR, although I probably won't push for more mileage than this.

Weekly Total: 80 Miles
YTD Total: 357 Miles

Final January Mileage: 328 Miles (Huge PR)

Weekly Highlight: Just getting in another very good training week and feeling strong towards the end of a long run. The workout was pretty good as well, so the highlight is really the week as a whole and not one particular run.

Weekly Lowlight: No serious lowlight in particular. Achilles/lower calf felt really sore after Friday's and Saturday's run, likely due to wearing new shoes Friday and the faster stuff on both days. Doesn't really seem like a huge issue.

Movies Watched: Midsommar, Zombieland: Double Tap, The Passion of the Christ
