Hawaii: Weekly Log- December 11 to 17

Trip to Hawaii. May expand on this post in the 2023 highpointing/travel post.

Monday: 3 Miles- Honolulu, HI

Last day in Honolulu/Oahu. Easy loop around Ala Moana. Slept 12 hours post marathon. Quads super sore and generally just hard to move.

Tuesday: 4 Miles- Kona, HI

Out to the big island. 4 mile hike in Hawaii Volcanoes NP before this run. Extremely sore, more so than Monday and just shuffling along. Running not very good here at all on very busy roads, but at least a small shoulder to run in on the main road.

Wednesday: 2 Miles- Kona, HI

Post hiking 16 miles up and down Mauna Kea. Had a headache from the altitude and overall just exhausted but needed to keep the streak alive. Compromised between a usual 3 miler for an off day and the minimum 1 needed to continue the streak. Not as bad as I expected, but still quite rough. Dark OAB on the main road.

Thursday: 3 Miles- Kihei, HI

Got pretty sick over the last few days- not surprising with flights (lots of people) and being run down from the marathon so this wasn't super fun either especially once again being a dark evening run post day of activity (6 miles of hiking this time). New spot on Maui which was actually much better for running with both large shoulders and quiet neighborhoods similar to SoCal.

Friday: 3 Miles- Kihei, HI

Replicated yesterday's route.

Saturday: 3 Miles- Camarillo, CA

Improvement on yesterday's nasal congestion but now a uncomfortable chest burn which was arguably worse. Pretty warm here again at 78 degrees but felt fine after being in Hawaii.

Sunday: 3 Miles- Westerly, RI

Another tough run post an overnight flight and hardly any sleep. Plus dark and raining.

Weekly Total: 21 Miles

Weekly Highlight: Fun exploration in Hawaii (non-running).

Weekly Lowlight: Terrible running week, just battling exhaustion, sickness and soreness in some combination on every single running. Definitely the toughest week to continue running every day.
