Weekly Log: August 5 to 11

Finishing out the summer semester, and back to RI for the weekend. Enjoyed watching the olympics, which fit well into my schedule.

Monday: 0 Miles

Final day off- easy decision with a tough final exam and coming off the Channel Islands run.

Tuesday: 4 Miles- Thousand Oaks, CA

Easy in Santa Rosa Valley on flat/non-technical stuff. Surprised to see a very fit looking runner finish up as I rarely see runners out here, let alone serious ones. Pretty hot, already 80 by 9am.

Wednesday: 5 Miles- Camarillo, CA

Shorter bike path loop. Not a good run as my stomach was bothering me and I had one of those "I have to poop now, but there are people around" kind of runs.

Thursday: 6 Miles- Thousand Oaks, CA

Sapwi trails OAB run, nice dirt roads/non-technical stuff there. Felt weirdly terrible and no energy on this one.

Friday: 6 Miles- Thousand Oaks, CA

Shorter vista del mar loop. Didn't feel amazing again, but better than the previous day. Almost 15 degrees cooler than earlier in the week at this time, pleasant.

Saturday: 6 Miles- Charlestown, RI

Ninigret with Andrew, felt absolutely horrible post overnight flight/little sleep.

Sunday: 10 Miles- Bethlehem, NH

Andrew was kind enough to accompany me to run the white mountains, which would be my only opportunity to get a 4,000 footer this year. OAB up Galehead and back which is often an extension mountain on bigger loops. The technicality was a big of shock after running in SoCal for most of the year, but took to it surprisingly well. Wet and muddy conditions meant I slipped a few times and scraped up my arms and legs a little, but no major falls. Largely not a very interesting mountain and not much in the way of views, but I was happy just to return to New Hampshire and get my 32nd 4000 footer.

Weekly Total: 36 Miles

Weekly Highlight: Running in the white mountains.

Weekly Lowlight: Feeling pretty bad mid-week.

Movies Watched: None
