Weekly Log: May 5 to 11

Some final challenging trail runs ahead of Snowdonia.

Monday: 0 Miles

Don't think this one was planned off, but was just being cautious with the ankle.

Tuesday: 8 Miles- Charlestown, RI

VG loop.

Wednesday: 10 Miles- Amherst, MA

Eastern side of Mount Holyoke Range State Park with Dad + Brady. Metacomet-Monadnock/NET going out, felt pretty flat and tired from the get go. Got towards the end of the NET section here and came up on quickly on a bunch of state workers doing trail maintenance. Having almost never had issues with trail workers, I continued to run until they told me to stop, walk, and that "the trail is closed". Going out to the road, there were clearly lots of signs that the trail was closed, but zero coming from the West so I was a little annoyed about getting slightly scolded there.

Much of the remainder of the run was new to me, and I was surprised how nice the trails were here. Thick, dense forest and non-technical/moderately technical singletrack. I really didn't have a lot on this one and was low on energy to finish.

Thursday: 8 Miles- Charlestown, RI

VG loop again. I noted on strava that the nails on the wooden bridge just before Buckeye Brook had been repaired, that had been an issue for a while with nails sticking out (bad place to fall).

Friday: 8 Miles- Hopkinton, RI

Same grills run as last week, and another cool wildlife sighting, this time a coyote on the blue trail.

Saturday: 10 Miles- Guilford, CT

Bluff Head loop with Andrew. This served as final hilly/technical run one week out from Snowdonia, and a testing out most of the race day equipment. I put all the mandatory gear in the back of the pack other than one pair of pants, and it felt notably bigger so I was glad I was testing it out before race day. It seemed really annoying at first but after a few miles, it wasn't a big deal. Lot of really nice trail in there, first time there. Trails super wet.

Sunday: 8 Miles- Groton, CT

Haley-Bluff loop with Andrew.

Weekly Total: 53 Miles

Weekly Highlight: Bluff Head loop, and generally super tight issues from last week were resolved and ankle feeling better.

Weekly Lowlight: Going into the week trashed from Breakneck and with uncertainty about the ankle.

Movies Watched: Thunderbolts, Mission: Impossible, Mission: Impossible II, Mission: Impossible III, Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol
