Hot Week- Weekly Log: June 23 to 29

 Monday: 8 Miles- Westerly, RI

Super hot 3 day stretch, so my usual wake up when I feel like it and run at 11am was not going to work. Ran from home at 8am, already 77F/feels like 82, was just suffering in the weather the whole time, felt terrible. Hamstring felt pretty bad, not consistently a problem, but on off would feel weak/like a bit of a knot in there.

Tuesday: 10 Miles- Groton, CT

Been doing a Haley-Bluff loop here to make 10. This one felt a lot better, both for the hamstring and temperature-wise. Only started half an hour earlier, but just much more comfortable. Hamstring actually felt terrible to start but much better later in the run.

Wednesday: 11 Miles

AM 5 Miles- Westerly, RI

Flat legs and felt quite hot again, but hamstring significantly better again so a good one overall. Weekapaug loop.

PM 6 Miles- Westerly, RI

I was hestitant to do the fun run this week due to the hamstring issue, but after improvement in every run, it felt okay to go for it. Super hot day, I believe it got in the 90s in Westerly and was still feels like 85 at 6PM for the fun run. I did a good job with the heat prep - electrolyte and icing my neck before the warm-up and it wasn't much of a problem for a 5K, 17:48 this week.

Thursday: 10 Miles- Groton, CT

Same Haley-Bluff loop. Run options were kind of dwindling due to the deerflies.

Friday: 9 Miles- Charlestown, RI

Ninigret loop including wildlife refuge stuff. Legs felt trash so I cut off the last mile. I wouldn't do that in a road block, but feeling quite burnt out and I don't think a few miles is going to make much of a difference.

Saturday: 16 Miles- Milton, MA

Blue Hills 16, largely on dirt roads with about a mile of technical trail with Andrew. Felt much better than last few days, and nice weather (only 60 degrees).

Sunday: 9 Miles- South Kingstown, RI

Duval-Browning loop with Dad, Andrew and Brady. Miserable weather again, so hot, not very fun.

Weekly Total: 73 Miles

Weekly Highlight: Blue Hills run was nice and good to get decent weather after a brutal week. Also getting the hamstring sorted out was big, was getting worried on Monday.

Weekly Lowlight: Hamstring and heat struggles early in the week, fatigue struggles late.

Movies Watched: Good Will Hunting, American Gangster, L.A. Confidential, Zodiac
