Back to Racing- Weekly Log- November 23 to 29

The reason there was no weekly log last week is the same reason there were no strava posts: I didn't run last week. The reason why was because I had trained hard the entire cross country season, and I felt I needed some rest. This also meant I would opt of my second chance to pull off a repeat win (first was Avondale: missed it because of states) at the Rivalry Run 5K. So I resumed weekly logs this week as I resumed running on Monday. I do a lot of racing since the XC/Track schedules have frequent meets, plus I also like to race often outside of track. The two next races after cross country, or the last two races before Indoor Track were Thursday's Family Turkey Trot 5K in Pawtucket, and Friday's Chariho Alumni 5K at Chariho High School. The Turkey Trot is a huge race (1000+ the last two years), so a win would be cool there.

Monday: 8.5 Miles, joined by Jonny E. and Joe G. We ran the fun Champlin trails only to see that parts of it had been changed and lots of trees were removed. A strange sight for some of it, but fortunately most of it was still the same. Legs and thighs felt funny in the last few miles- maybe because of the week off.

Tuesday: 6 Miles, same people. I made up a workout- 5 Hill Repeats and 2 fast 800s. Took the hills hards, then ran 800 splits of 2:40, 2:26, 2:24 (Jonny timed splits). Recovery was 3-4 minute jog. Difficulty of workout: 3/5. Ran in my zoom elites, and my feet hurt after. Will most likely retire them at the end of the week.

Wednesday: 5 Miles, Jonny Eckel and I again (two instead of three). Easy, comfortable and relaxing pace throughout the run. Felt good and kept it short because of my races in the following two days. Wore my Fresh Foam 980 for this run, as they are good for slower comfortable run and not fast ones.

Was surprised to find myself third on the WTAC Strava Leaderboard on Wednesday Night

Thursday: 5.5 Miles, Family Turkey Trot 5K. 3rd Overall, 16:49. Separate combined write-up (with Friday's race to follow).

Friday: 6 Miles, Chariho Alumni 5K. First Overall (barely), unknown time (results still not posted) but I think around 17:10.

Saturday: 6 Miles, woke at 5:45 to run at 6:05 with a headlamp. Never run with one before: it felt weird and eventually became really sweat but was cool shining the light on reflective tape. Felt great first two miles, then really weak in the final four (probably since I didn't eat).

Sunday: 6 Miles, Bluff Point Group. Wanted (and planned) for 8-12, but lack of time shortened this run to 6. Fun (but hard and slippery) single-track. Cold at first, but then warmed up. Great place and I look forward to running there again (hopefully Christmas break)

Weekly Total: 43 Miles (good, but should've been better)

Dropped to 6th

So I went figured out the yearly mileage to date. It's not 100% accurate as I guessed on the mileage for some days, especially for my may miles post. Here it is.

YTD Mileage: 1,657 Miles
