Taper for Boston. Usually this is race week but since Boston is Monday that would be the following week.
Monday: 5 Miles- Westerly, RI
Grills loop. Felt super flat and sides were bothering me.
Tuesday: 8 Miles- Charlestown, RI
VG loop. Legs felt pretty heavy.
Wednesday: 7 Miles- Charlestown, RI
Over the sickness at this point. Ran with Dad as he did two miles MP. Felt easy, but legs still disappointingly flat.
Thursday: 7 Miles- Westerly, RI
Regular tune up workout of 2xmile with 2 minute rest. This went really badly. Often for this one my breathing will feel a little off but otherwise it feels fairly easy. First rep about a 5:20 but feeling hard and breathing very hard. 2nd rep felt hard immediately, nearly gasping for air at the end and had some sudden awful stomach discomfort (nauseous) where I just stopped at 0.8 miles.
I tried to tell myself it meant nothing, but I've never not finished this workout before. I actually had something similar prior to Pittsburgh half (breathing was actually worse for that although no stomach issues) and was totally fine for race day. I figured I'd probably be fine on race day but it had me a little worried.
Friday: 6 Miles- Charlestown, RI
Campground + trails loop. Felt better than yesterday but still breathing off.
Saturday: 6 Miles- Charlestown, RI
Ninigret loop with some strides. Feeling decent but still a little off.
Sunday: 4 Miles- Charlestown, RI
Ninigret with Dad. Finally felt great/easy and no breathing problems. Kinda crazy how long that took, wonder if the sickness had something to do with it. But not perfect, I had some minor hip discomfort that popped up for the first time, not exactly the best time. Not painful or affecting my form so I figure I could race with some discomfort if need be.
Weekly Total: 43 Miles
Weekly Highlight: Finally feeling good by Sunday.
Weekly Lowlight: Just not feeling great all week. Hard to be confident. As usual, none of this stuff impacted me race day (as far as I can tell)
Movies Watched: Slumdog Millionaire
